Product Story

Two coasts meet on this vermilion silk. Bengal's running stitch grows the garden at the heart of the pallu: white stems, blue leaves, yellow blooms, each leaf edged in tiny dotted stitches. Around it, Kutch takes over with cross-stitch built thread by thread into lattice squares and a parade of paisleys in white and sky blue, keeping the garden in its frame.

Vermilion is sindoor's shade, worn in Bengal and Assam alike, and here it stays open and quiet across the body, with only tiny motifs scattered like seeds. Blended Bangalore silk keeps the drape light.

Design Details

  • Ground: Vermilion (orange-red) blended Bangalore silk. The body is left open, with small scattered motifs in blue, yellow, and white.
  • Kantha work: A central pallu panel of white running-stitch branches with blue-filled leaves and yellow carnation-style flowers. Each leaf is outlined in fine dotted stitching.
  • Kutch work: White and sky-blue cross-stitch lattice bands, open-checked squares, and a row of paisleys framing the pallu and running along the hem.
  • Pallu end: Three bold stylised floral motifs in yellow and blue.
