Product Story

Try to find where the branch begins. It loops through the pallu, wraps a lotus-like bloom, swells into leaf, and carries on without a break, rows of running stitch laid side by side until the vine looks plaited. Ribbed fan leaves, blooms with dotted seed-pod centres, and hundreds of small leaves in white thread all grow from that one line, on royal blue Bangalore silk.

The body stays still and open, scattered with tiny white leaf pairs, so the pallu does all the talking. Kantha this dense can't be hurried or copied.

One small batch. Desi Aadat won't stitch this branch twice.

Design Details

  • Ground: Royal blue blended Bangalore silk. The body is plain, with small white leaf pairs scattered across it.
  • Kantha work: All in white thread. Thick spiralling branches are built from several rows of running stitch. Leaves are filled in short, dense stitches with fine dotted outlines.
  • Motifs: Lotus-like blooms with dotted seed-pod centres, ribbed fan-shaped leaves, and hundreds of small leaves growing off the vines.
  • Pallu and pleats: The whole pallu is one continuous looping vine garden, with blooms clustered toward the tapering end. A matching vine-and-leaf band runs along the lower pleats.
