Product Story

Look at the body of this saree and you'll see parched earth: rust red dyed in wax-resist batik, the wax cracking just enough to leave hairline veins of darker red through the silk. No two metres crackle alike. Then look at the pallu, where that earth has met rain. Kantha daisies in ivory, mustard, and olive open across it, every petal packed with running stitch, every stem curling into a tendril.

Striped bands in white, yellow, and green frame the garden, a triangle-edged floral border climbs the hem, and a hanging bouquet closes the pallu. Bangalore silk keeps all that thread light on the shoulder.

One small batch, then retired. Desi Aadat won't stitch this one twice.

Design Details

  • Ground: Rust red wax-resist batik with a natural crackle texture in darker red-brown. Deeper brick-red solid border and pallu.
  • Kantha work: Hand running-stitch daisies, buds, leaves, and spiral tendrils in ivory, mustard yellow, and olive green. Petals and leaves are split between filled stitching and outline stitching.
  • Pallu: A dense all-over floral garden framed by multiple striped bands of running stitch.
  • Border and hem: A floral band with a small triangle-edged trim runs diagonally along the lower drape. A hanging floral bouquet motif sits at the pallu end.
