Product Story

Sunflowers turn to follow the light. These, stitched in orchid-magenta on deep peacock blue, seem to follow a different sun: every petal filled with running stitch, every seed-head a dark disc dotted in white, one dot at a time. Kantha often puts a sun at the heart of its cloths; here the sun has a whole field.

White vines and seed-pod paisleys knit the blooms into a pallu you could lose an evening in, while the body stays open, with small white sprigs scattered across it. Bangalore silk carries all that thread lightly.

One small batch. Desi Aadat won't stitch this field twice.

Design Details

  • Ground: Peacock blue (deep teal-blue) blended Bangalore silk. The body is left plain, with small white leaf sprigs scattered across it.
  • Kantha work: Large orchid-magenta sunflowers. Each petal is filled in rows of running stitch, and the dark seed-head centres are dotted with white and ringed in fine white stitching.
  • Vines and fillers: Dense white Kantha vines, pointed leaves, seed-pod paisleys with dotted centres, and small ringed berries.
  • Pallu and border: The sunflowers sit in staggered rows across the full pallu, with a matching floral band along the lower pleats. The plain blue border has a fine light-blue running-stitch edge.
