Product Story

Most kantha work stops at the border, leaves the body of the saree plain, lets the embroidery announce itself only at the edges. This one doesn't. Birds in gold, coral and warm cream perch across a royal blue Bangalore silk canvas that runs corner to corner — no resting patch of unworked silk, no shortcut taken anywhere along the five and a half metres. That's not a small commitment from the hands that stitched it.

The running stitch that built these birds and their trailing vines is the same one Bengal's kantha artisans have used for roughly five centuries, turning patched cloth into something closer to folk narrative than fabric. Pull the pallu close and you'll find florals tucked between wingspans, leaves rendered in citrus green against deep blue — density that a machine copies badly and a needle gets right, stitch by uneven, human stitch.

We release each design once, in a batch too small to call mass production. Choose this, and there is no second saree quite like it waiting in a warehouse.
