Product Story

A pair of swans, ringed inside a white-stitched circle, floats beneath a canopy of lotus and poppy — this is the kind of central scene old nakshi kanthas were built around, back when a quilt or a saree carried a story rather than a repeat pattern. On ink blue Bangalore silk, that medallion sits like a locket: self-contained, deliberate, everything else in the saree arranged to lead the eye toward it.

Outside the circle, the ground turns busier — paisleys, florals and looping vines worked in magenta, marigold, lime and red, stitched with the same running stitch that's carried Bengal's kantha tradition across five centuries of hands. Nothing in that border is symmetrical by design; nakshi kantha was never meant to repeat itself exactly, and this piece doesn't either.

Every saree we release at Desi Aadat comes from a small, uneven batch — sewn once, sold once, and gone for good after that.
